Mijas Golf Club

Mijas Golf – is one of the most recognized golf complexes in Spain. It offers two high-level 18-hole courses that are completely different – Los Lagos and Los Olivos.

Los Lagos and Los Olivos are located at the Mijas Golf Valley, on the Mediterranean Sea, just 20 minutes from Málaga Airport and only 3.5 km from the sea, this beautiful golf course is the perfect choice for the residents of the area as well as for a large selection of national and international players who come every year to enjoy its facilities.

The clubhouse is strategically located between the two courses and becomes the starting and arrival point for any player, either starting or finishing a round on one of the two courses. It is the Andalusian farmhouse that includes changing rooms, the reception and the restaurant where customers will enjoy the spacious terrace.

Los Lagos
With its 6,536 meters, Los Lagos is the largest of the two courses in Mijas Golf. Los Lagos was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The entire course was completely renovated in 2012. Los Lagos is a course with gentle slopes, wide fairways and few obstacles in forest trees, but defended by many bunkers and no less than nine lakes, from which the course takes its name, eager to trap anyone else’s ball. Greens are large and flat with sensitive undulations. Los Lagos is a course suitable for the kind of handicap players that is one of the most famous commercial courses on the Costa del Sol.

Local rules
The rules of the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews applies.

Out of ground – White sticks, stone walls or borders.

Lateral water – Red bars.

Ground Repair – Blue bars. The ball may drop without penalty on sprinkler heads, check stations, reach wells and tees with support (one club length).

Important warning – It is your responsibility to keep up with the game in front and not just in front but also the game from behind. You must remember to repair the grass if you break up a turf, remember to demolish bunkers and repair impacts on the greens.

Marshalls are asked to move groups forward if they lose their place on the field (over a gap).

Los Olivos
This course was designed by Robert Trent Senior. This course differs from Los Laos by a large number of trees – hence the name – and its smaller size and fewer water hazards. Greens are smaller, hilly and well defended. Although both are the work of the same designer, there is no doubt that there are interesting contrasts between the two courses: if Los Lagos is based on hazards with water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree-lined fairways and elevated greens.

Los Olivos is a course best suited to players who are gifted with a high technical ability and precision in their game; which, together with its brother Los Lagos, remains one of the most famous commercial courses on the Costa del Sol.
